Chapter Seven

"Spend the night with me," Rio said when he pulled into the parking lot of Grizzly's, where Jamie's car still sat. "I just don't want this day to end."

Neither did Jamie. He had to admit, at first he was apprehensive about getting into Rio's car, but this was probably one of the best days he'd had in…ever.

He was still reeling from Rio telling him that he might be pregnant, but there was no proof—Jamie didn't have a baby bump or anything—so he did what any sensible person did when faced with life-altering news.

Jamie chose to ignore it.

Rio leaned over and slid his fingers under Jamie's chin. His lips were so close Jamie could still smell the sugary soda Rio had had earlier on his breath. "Don't think about it. Just say yes."

How could he resist such a tempting request? Rio was right there in his face, his rich brown eyes making Jamie quiver with need. They'd had sex three times today, yet Jamie was still ready for more. Rio had turned him into a sex monster. Jamie was ready to crawl into his lap and go another round right there in the parking lot.

At least his car windows are tinted.

"Let me send my dad a text so he won't worry." Jamie reached for the door handle. "I'll follow you in my car."

He didn't want to leave his Honda at the tavern. Mercury was a nice, safe town—or so Jamie had thought until he'd been attacked—but there was still such things as stolen cars.

Rio gave him a quick but thorough kiss. "Do you want to grab some food from here before we head out?"

Jamie hadn't eaten breakfast and all he'd had today were a few bites of a sandwich and some pasta salad. But he was too nervous to eat. He still hadn't gotten his full appetite back, either.

"No, I'm fine, but if you want to, grab something for yourself."

"Nope." Rio gave him another kiss. "Stay behind me."

With a silly salute, Jamie got out and hurried to his car. Before starting the engine, he texted his father, then pulled out right behind Rio's Mustang. The drive wasn't far, and before Jamie could find a decent song on the radio, they were pulling into Rio's drive.

Oh. Wow. The L-shaped house was simply gorgeous. Jamie couldn't think of another way to describe it. It had dark bricks, an overabundance of trees and shrubbery, and it was freaking huge! Now he saw how so many people could live under one roof.

He parked next to Rio and got out, suddenly unsure he wanted to be here. If Rio lived alone, that would've been different. But the thought of seeing other people, and likely having them know why Jamie was here, made him swallow roughly as Rio walked to his side, took Jamie's hand, and led him inside.

As soon as they entered, Jamie heard laughter and chatter coming from a room off the foyer.

"That's just the other mates," Rio said.

"I don't have to meet them
